The ECONOMY.4 is the simplified version of the BLACK.4 controller. It has been reduced in certain features to provide a simple and cost-effective lighting system for smaller and medium-sized models. It is significantly smaller and lighter, limited to lower power outputs and lacks certain protective features to keep costs down. However, it still offers four control functions:
Channel 1: Strobe Lights The strobes are very bright white flashlights, typically placed at the wing tips or rear fuselage. They often share the same casing as the position lights.
Channel 2: Navigation/Position lights These lights divide the surrounding space into 120° sections: green on the right, red on the left, and white to the rear. These lights typically operate continuously, but some may flash.
Channel 3: Beacon The red warning lights are mounted at the top and bottom of the aircraft, often on the vertical stabilizer, and indicate "Warning, engine on." They can function as a strobe (ACL) or as a pulsing light (simulated rotating light).
Channel 4: Landing spotlights These are always white and face forward. They are usually installed in the wing, engine pod, or landing gear.
